Willard David Giebenrath, 90, Lincoln, Neb., passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, of an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Eagle, NE to Walter and Emma Giebenrath. He was a retired wood craftsman who made furniture with The House of Oak. He was an Army veteran.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geralda Giebenrath; daughter, Sharon Morgan; daughter-in-law, Carlita Giebenrath; and granddaughter, Melinda Shields.
He is survived by his daughters, Judy and Garrett Shields, Barbourville, Ky.; Wilma and Tony Rocha, Arizona; Barbara and David Ruley, Denver, Colo.; twin sons, Willard and Debbie Giebenrath, Mequon, Wis., Robert Giebenrath, Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Harold Giebenrath and Dale Giebenrath, both of Davey; stepson, Doug Olsen, Omaha; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, special granddaughter Cris Giebenrath, with two more on the way; nieces and nephew; and his beloved dogs, Teddy, Suzie and Harry Potter.
He also leaves behind many friends, including his friends at Virginia’s Cafe and Sherry’s Tavern, Deb who sold him lottery tickets and Jason the pilot.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday Nov. 16, with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m., at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Lincoln.
The family wishes to thank the employees of Tabitha Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care of Willard. He will be missed by many.
