Wes was the son of Lee and Mary Hunt of rural Lincoln and grew up on the farm near Cheney, NE. He attended Cheney and Bennet elementary and then Palmyra High School.
After graduating from high school, Wes attended SE Community College for Auto Tech training. Over the years, Wes held a number of jobs and lived in several different communities in southeast Nebraska.
In 2009 a serious car accident near Lincoln resulted in Wes living out his days needing full time nursing care. Most of those years were spent at the Hemingford Care Center in Hemingford, NE.
Wes was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lee and Mary Hunt and sister Peggy Hunt all of Lincoln.
He is survived by his son Dillon Shafer – Falls City, NE., sister Carol Boyd and husband Robert – Prescott, AZ., brother James Hunt and wife Sheryl – Lincoln, NE., and sister Julie Paris and husband Tom – Friend, NE.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 3rd at 1 p.m. at the Roper & Sons chapel at 3950 Hohensee Dr., Lincoln, NE 68516.
Graveside services will follow at the Cheney Cemetery at 84th & Yankee Hill Rd. in Lincoln.
