Wayne LeRoy Huss

August 30, 1939 - July 26, 2025

Wayne LeRoy Huss, 85, of Lincoln, NE passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 surrounded by his children.

Wayne was born August 30, 1939 to Fred and Loys Huss in Fairbury, NE. Wayne was the oldest child and had three younger siblings, Alelia, Cork and Kent. Wayne graduated from Fairbury High School where he played many sports and lettered in them all. 

Wayne married Shirley (Brunick) on May 28, 1961 and the two moved to Lincoln in 1967. They had four children together, Traci, Clifton, Lori and Tara. Wayne and Shirley were also blessed with 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. 

After moving to Lincoln Wayne worked at LES as a Lineman for 38 years, and was always the first to volunteer to help restore power after a storm. After retiring, he could be found mowing the greens at Highlands Golf Course, bowling in leagues at Sun Valley, and spending time with his family.

 Wayne always had a love for bowling. Growing up his first job was working at the bowling alley in Fairbury, where he worked for several years. He bowled in leagues throughout Lincoln until just recently and made many friends along the way.  

 Wayne married Dale (Evans) on October 4, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV. They resided in Lincoln, NE until his passing and enjoyed spending time with their families including Dale’s 2 children, Jason and Jennifer, and 4 grandchildren. He also loved snuggling with their Shih Tzu’s, Skeeter and Biscuit.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Loys Huss, along with his brothers, Cork Huss and Kent Huss.

Wayne is survived by his children, Traci (Tim) Mersch, of Lincoln, NE; Cliff (Heidi) Huss, of Fremont, NE; Lori (Shawn) Morrow, of Fremont, NE; and Tara (Shawn) Hansen, of Lincoln, NE; wife, Dale Huss, of Lincoln, NE; sister, Alelia Layton, of Casper, WY; as well as, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held at a future date.
