Wanda G. Wiegers, 80, Lincoln, died Saturday (3-5-11). She was born January 10, 1931 in Sherman County, Ne to Elmer and Anna Lindell.
Wanda attended Kearney State Teachers College, the University of Nebraska, Nebraska Business Institute and Southeast Community College. She was a rural school teacher for six years in Custer, Valley, Cherry and Brown counties. She was then employed at the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant in Grand Island, Ne. When she moved to Lincoln, she was employed with the Nebraska Poultry Improvement Association for five years before going to work for the University of Nebraska as the Departmental Secretary in the Poultry Department and later in the Central Food Stores and Purchasing for the University. Wanda retired after 25 ½ years of service to the University. Wanda was a member of the Lincoln East Rotary Club as well as AARP.
Family members include husband Howard L. Wiegers; son and daughter-in-law Terry (Delores) Maret Boise, ID; son Kenneth R. Maret, Thailand; stepdaughter and spouse Jo Anne (Gordon) Bair, Lincoln; stepson and spouse John (Chris) Wiegers, Beatrice; granddaughters Carmen and Tracy Maret; step-granddaughters Amanda Jo Bair and Cynthia Lee Bair-Van Dam; Andrea Nichole Hass and Carly Ann Parrish; sister Lovetta Mae Smith.
Preceded in death by parents, brother Orval Lindell.
Wanda’s request was to be cremated with no services and no visitation.
