Verla Ann Liggett (Beltz) Schenk

April 20, 1945 - December 1, 2025

Verla Ann Liggett was born in Sterling, Colorado on April 20, 1945, to Joseph and Nellie Liggett. She was the youngest of their five children.

Verla attended Sterling public schools through eighth grade. She then attended Campion Academy, a Seventh-day Adventist boarding school for the next four years, graduating in 1963.

She attended Union College in Lincoln, NE before marrying Wayne Beltz from Keenesburg, Colorado. He farmed with his father until the farm was sold in 1979. They have four daughters – Angela Schwartz, Lisa Beltz (deceased 2001), Sheila Klein and Andrea Beltz. In 1981, the family moved to Lincoln, NE where Verla worked for Christian Record Services for 16 years.

In 1996, Verla married Charlie Schenk from Roundup, Montana. They lived on his ranch for five years before they relocated to the Hickman, Nebraska area to grandparent Verla’s four grandchildren, Collin, Sami and Connor Klein and Andrew Schwartz.

Verla enjoyed playing the piano and quilting. Her greatest joy was her family and serving the Lord Jesus Christ. Charlie preceded her in death on August 2, 2021. Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 22 at 10:30am, Capitol View Seventh-day Adventist Church and Internment at College View Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.
