Twyla Mae Shoemaker

July 19, 1926 - August 16, 2008

Twyla Mae Shoemaker, 82 died Saturday (8-16-08) at Holmes Lake Manor. Born Hamlet, NE (7-19-1926), daughter of Orval H. and Ruby D. (Walbridge) Shoemaker. Homemaker. A major part of her life was spent in Southwest Nebraska where she established herself as a special part of a wide circle of friends in unselfish devotion to the needs of others whether it was home, church or community. During her later years she lived in Lincoln where her circle of friends was expanded and cherished by those who knew her through Crestwood Christian Church, social service organizations, numerous bridge groups and social circles. Any who met her found her to be a cherished friend.

She is survived by daughter, son-in-law: Elizabeth and Ali Al Arai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; granddaughters: Amna, Miriam and Shayma; brothers, sisters-in-law: Wayne and Avis Shoemaker, Des Moines, IA, Vernon and Arlene Shoemaker, Lincoln; nieces, nephews: Peggy and James Mikulanec, Indianola, IA, Mary Shoemaker and David Franek, River Forest, IL, Mark Shoemaker, Des Moines, IA, Paul and Lori Shoemaker, Mercer Island, WA, Dirk and Nancy Shoemaker, Lincoln; numerous cousins, friends and acquaintances. Preceded in death by parents and her children Kelly and Kristy Nordhausen.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (8-20-08) Crestwood Christian Church, 8000 ‘A’ Street. Pastor G. Duncan Miller officiating.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the church. No Visitation/ Cremation.
