Tom started off his life doing heavy construction with his Dad, then he changed to becoming an over-the-road truck driver. Tom drove the majority of his life for Crete Carrier, then went to JTI and finally ending with Dawes Trucking. Before a massive stroke in 2008 changed his life significantly, Tom enjoyed going to as many NHRA drag races as he could and catching a Tractor pull when in town.
Tom was also known for his love of snacks, he loved peeps, mr. goodbars, twizzlers, m&m’s, and cookies.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Gay and Elsie, his wife Valerie (Young) Fisher, his grandson Blaine Henderson, his great granddaughter Jayden Gregg, and (2) other Great Grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his children: Scott (Michelle) Fisher, Brenda (Jay) Uhing, Todd (Kim) Gertsch, Joel (April) Gertsch. 9 Grandchildren: Taylor (Austin) Gregg, Cody (Kelcey) Henderson, Hannah Fisher, Sarah Fisher, Haleigh Gertsch (Fiancé Brook Frewing), Natalie Gertsch, Alie Gertsch, Connor Gibbs, Josh Dinslage. (1) Great Grandchild: Kinsley Gregg.
Funeral service will be 10:30am, Wednesday November 19th, 2025, at Roper & Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr. Lincoln, NE 68516). Reception to follow. Visitation with family before or after the service. Graveside will be family only at a later time.
