Thomas A. Ernst, 74, of Lincoln, passed away April 1, 2016. Born June 13, 1941, to Paul and Dorothy (Clements) Ernst in Columbus, NE. Tom was very active in various organizations.
He was president of the Better Business Bureau, Lions Club, First National Bank, Phi Delta Theta, University of Nebraska Alumni Association Board, The N Club (baseball), YMCA Board, Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors for the Country Club of Lincoln. He was Athlete of the Year in 1959, and participated in the 1st Shrine Bowl in 1959. He loved tennis, golf, cheering on his grandchildren in their sports, and most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Ernst; children, Doug (Teri) Ernst, Jeff (Michele) Ernst, Kim Hoover; grandchildren, Carly, Hilary, and Dylan Ernst; Lida, Flynn, and Miley Ernst; Owen and Ian Hoover. Preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (4-5-16) at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 D street, with Rev. Dr. Jim Keck officiating. Private family inurnment at First Plymouth Columbarium.
