Thelma K. (Hicks) Helgren, 98, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully July 28, 2015. Born April 16, 1917 in Bassett, NE to Matt T. and Edith (Pasewalk) Hicks. Shortly after Thelma was born the family moved to Meadow Grove, NE where she was raised and graduated from high school. She attended Wayne State Teachers College and taught elementary grades.
Married Orville C. Helgren of Wakefield on April 17, 1942. The resided in Norfolk, Falls City and Hastings before moving to Lincoln. She was a longtime member of Fourth Presbyterian Church.
Survived by daughter, Donna Helgren, Denver, CO; son, Norman (Jan) Helgren; grandchildren, Marcia Helgren, Susan (Matt) Jenkins, all of Rochester, MN, Stephen (Susan Halla) Helgren, St. Louis. MO; great grandchildren, Meredeth, Lewis, Evan Jenkins, Rochester, MN; Elek and Anais Borrelli, St. Louis, MO. Preceded in death by parents and siblings.
Graveside Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday (8-1-15) Wyuka Cemetery, 3600 ‘O’ St. with Pastor Marty Thurber officiating. Meet at the ‘O’ St. entrance.
