Terrill L. (Terry) Bundy

April 20, 1949 - August 16, 2009

Terrill L. (Terry) Bundy, 60, Lincoln, died Sunday (8-16-09). Born (4-20-49) in Newcastle, Pennsylvania to Roger Henry and Doris Irene (Wendt) Bundy. He was the oldest of four children. Soon after his birth, his parents returned to Nebraska, and made their home in Tekamah, where his father was a jeweler. Terry attended Tekamah Public Schools and graduated in 1967. At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Terry received his B.S. in 1971 and his master’s degree in 1973, both in electrical engineering.

In 1972, Terry joined Lincoln Electric System (LES) as a part-time employee, and after receiving his master’s degree, was hired full-time. During his 37 years at LES, he held nine different posts, and was the Administrator and CEO for the past 12 years. He represented LES and the public power industry on various boards and committees on a local, regional and national basis. In 2008, he received the James D. Donovan Individual Achievement Award from the American Public Power Association. The LES Administrative Board renamed the Salt Valley Generating Station the Terry Bundy Generating Station in honor of his dedication, leadership, and successful career at LES, and his contributions to public power and to electric reliability on a regional and national basis. He has been dedicated to his work and his belief that public power is in the best interests of the people receiving electric service.

Terry married Constance (Connie) Deann Scheel of Sioux Falls, SD, on August 13, 1977. They made their home in Lincoln, and have a daughter, Alyssa Deann Bundy.

In his free time, Terry loved photography, golfing and creating projects in his workshop. He especially enjoyed spending time working with computers and information technology.

Terry was a kind and gracious man who thrived on problem solving and patiently worked to strengthen the Lincoln community through finding common ground.

He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves his wife, Connie, and daughter, Alyssa. Other family members are his mother, Doris (Joe) Dye; sister, Susan (Mike) McAllister; brother: Randy (Carol) Bundy; and sister, Linda (Ed) Weber.

Terry was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. He was also a member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the North American Reliability Council, Midwest Independent System Organization and the Midwest Reliability Organization Board. Terry also served on the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Nebraska Utility Corporation, Nebraska Power Association, District Energy Corporation, and MAPPCOR. He served on the following committees: the Executive Committee of Mid-Continent Area Power Pool (MAPP), American Public Power Association System Planning Committee, Missouri Basin Systems Group Planning Committee, Missouri Basin Power Project (MBPP) Management Committee, and Transmission Access Policy (TAPS) Management Committee. He served on the Industry Advisory Board Panel to the Computer Science Department at UNL.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday (8-20-09) St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd. Pastor Ray Norris officiating.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
