Ted Perlman

June 14, 1915 - March 3, 2010

Ted Perlman, longtime York business man, passed away Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 in Lincoln. He was 94 years old. Ted was born in Lincoln Nebraska, June 14th, 1915 to Moses and Rose Perlman.

His plan was to follow in the footsteps of his brothers and become a doctor. However, the Great Depression prevented him from attending medical school. He was united in marriage to Rosalyn Lashinsky, December 26th, 1939.

After a short career in the insurance and bill collection business, he went into the auto parts business with his father-in-law. In October, 1951, he took advantage of an opportunity to buy York Auto Parts and moved his family to York Nebraska. He owned and operated that store until his retirement in 1982. He was involved in several organizations in York, including the York Chamber of Commerce, city councilman and the Little League baseball program. He also served as chairman of the board for First Federal Savings and Loan of York. He took great pride in being a 50 year member of the York Rotary Club and served as its president in 1960.

He was a devoted father to his three children, Harvey (Susan) Perlman of Lincoln, Nebraska, Gary (Linda) Perlman of Scottsdale, Arizona and Penny Parks of Marietta, Georgia. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalyn, three brothers and a sister.
