She was raised in Saratoga, CA with her older brother. Suzy went to Los Gatos High School and then graduated from Castilleja Girls School, before making her way to the University of Nebraska Lincoln. At UNL, she pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma and studied Education. It was there that she met her lifelong love and husband, Charles Corbon Taylor. After they married in 1961, they spent time in Virginia and California before settling in Lincoln to raise their two children, Anne and Christopher.
Suzy worked in the Lincoln Public Schools for over 20 years, sharing her energy, dedication and passion for learning with countless children and with her colleagues. Her teaching career included Preschool, Elementary, English as a Second Language and Talented and Gifted programs. Outside of teaching, Suzy was involved in many clubs, organizations and volunteer activities in Lincoln, including the Junior League, Patriarchs, Lotos, Colonial Dames, Tuesday Night Tennis, First-Plymouth Church, Knit Wits and Kappa Chat. Among her personal interests, she loved time with family and friends, birding, tennis, golf, bridge, gardening, biking, traveling and needlework.
Suzy will be remembered for her boundless energy, curiosity and enthusiasm for life. She was a generous-hearted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her devoted husband Chuck, daughter Anne (Tom) Netting, son Christopher (Sonia) Taylor, granddaughter Taylor Netting, brother Edward (Karen) Sickel, III, and multiple beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
