Suzie spent most of her life in Lincoln but spent a few years in Denver, CO. She was very involved in her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta – Rho Chapter, where she served on the House and Foundation Boards in various roles throughout her adult life. She was honored with the Kite award in 1990. She and her dear friend, Ann Gohde, started a business called the Calico House in 1974, which is still open 50 years later. Their mutual love of sewing and quilting drove them to open the business so they could share their passion with the masses.
Suzie enjoyed art, gardening, music, travel and literature – all of which she shared with her daughters and grandchildren. She was an expert Bridge and UNO player. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Suzie is survived by her three daughters; Sally (James) Conley, and their daughters Mary Kathryn and Claire all of Denver, Colorado; Elizabeth Lewis and her son Sidney (Whitney) Stuffle, and their four sons of Tucson, Arizona, and her daughter Dr. Calliandra (Dan) Stuffle of Beaverton, Oregon; and Julie (Jude) Lewis of Sacramento, California. Preceded in death by husband, Veldon Lewis; parents, Charles and Mildred Swingle; and siblings, Kathryn and Charles; and many cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday July 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Roper and Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr, Lincoln. Livestream link will be available 15 minutes before the service starts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sheldon Art Association, TheKey (the fabulous caretakers that helped care for her for the past eight years) and Tabitha Hospice.
