Steven Carl Willet

April 17, 1942 - May 21, 2015

Steven Carl Willet, 73, of Lincoln, passed away May 21, 2015 in Omaha. Born April 17, 1942 in Lincoln, NE to Ralph and Philippine R. (Ochs) Willet. U. S. Army Veteran. Ret. Industrial Arts teacher for Lincoln Public Schools. Member of Christ Lutheran Church. Steven Carl Willet went to be with his Savior Jesus on Thursday May 21, 2015, a beloved husband, father and friend. Steve graduated from Pius X HS and earned a degree in Education from UNL in 1968. During this time he also served in the Army for 2 years, including a tour in Vietnam. He taught Industrial Arts at Nebraska Center for Children and Youth for over 20 years, and retired from Culler Middle School in 2006.

Steve and Donna married in 1975 and raised their three children to know and love the Lord. Steve had a God-given gift of working with his hands and was truly a master craftsman and artist. If he couldn’t fix it, he’d create something new. He was always looking for an opportunity to use his time and skills to serve others. His enthusiasm for the outdoors included fishing, hunting and camping with family. He was also an avid motorcyclist. Steve was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Lincoln Bass Club, and the Lincoln Sky Knight’s RC flying club. He brought laughter and love into the lives of all who knew him and he will be sorely missed.

Family members include his wife, Donna; sons, Christopher Steven Willet (Megan), Zachary Carl Willet (Stephanie); daughter, Katharine Love Willet Reutzel (Shane); 5 grandchildren; sister, Miriam Willet Korklewski (Dennis). Preceded in death by parents.
