After returning from war, he was reunited with Marlis, and they got married on May 23, 1970. They had two beautiful girls, Stacey and Tenile, and 53 wonderful years together. They resided in Lincoln, and he was a member of Sheridan Lutheran Church.
Steve enjoyed working for Constructors as a Machine Operator for 51 years. On his way home from work, he sometimes made a pit stop to buy his sweet wife flowers. He loved spending time with family and attending grandkids events. In his free time, you could find him fishing, hunting, camping, and trap shooting. Minneapolis Molines were a big part of his life. Not only did he collect them, but also participated in tractor pulling events. If you ever saw Steve in a vehicle, it was always a Ford. Finding a treasure at a flea market was a challenge that he often looked forward to. Once he retired, he loved having breakfast and lunch with his work buddies. It was a joy for Steve to be able to spend the last two Christmases with his wife, two daughters and their families in Mexico. If you ever stopped at his house, the first thing he probably asked was, “Do you want a beer?”
Steve loved his family and was very passionate about helping others. He was a caring, dedicated husband, dad, and grandpa.
