Obituary

Shannon Burchess

May 11, 1956 - August 6, 2025

Shannon Colleen Burchess, 69, of Lincoln passed away August 6, 2025. Born May 11, 1956, in Lincoln, NE to David and Shirley (Pillard) Kent.

Shannon was married for 53 years to the love of her life. She was a stay-at-home mom and loved to crochet and sew. She lovingly created beautiful things for her family. She made everything from dolls and school clothes for her kids, to baptismal gowns and Halloween costumes for her grandkids. She never turned down a request for a costume, or quilt, or Afghan from any of us. She had wonderful sense of humor and never shied from hearing or telling a good joke (and even some bad ones). She had four children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She taught us all how to love and care for others as she loved and cared for us. She passed down to us her passions for cooking, painting, building, sewing, and crocheting.

Shannon is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles L Burchess III; her two sisters Tammi Lange and Kelly Branum; her children, Charles E Burchess, Brandi L Morris (Ian), David M Burchess, Amanda K Muse (Cornell); her Grandchildren, Ethan and Alexandria Morris, Enrico Ecker, Amy Aldrich, Michael Burchess, Vincent and Theodore Muse, and Maddison and Kaylee Burchess; two Great Grandchildren, Jolie and Luke Aldrich.

She is preceded in death by her mother Shirley (Pillard) Kent and father David L Kent.

The services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church and School in Lincoln on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10 am, with a luncheon immediately following. Mourners who wish to visit with family may do so before the service at the church starting at 9:00 am. The interment will be at 1:15 pm at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
