Sara L. Thomassen Honnor, 47, Lincoln, died Sunday (3-6-11). Born (1-31-64) in Lincoln, Nebraska to Tom and Irene (Hinze) Thomassen. Sara was a Special Needs High School Teacher and Diving Coach in Lincoln Public Schools for many years, but her greatest joy in life was being a mom and a wife. Sara was a remarkable woman. In spite of being legally blind, she was adventurous, outgoing and had a wonderful sense of humor about herself and the world in general. Member: Redeemer Lutheran Church and Lincoln Racquet Club and also enjoyed taking her personal art class.
Family members include husband, Bryan; son, Thomassen; daughter, Kallio; both at home; mother, Irene Thomassen; brothers, Rick Thomassen, Kansas City, MO, Mike and wife Carol Thomassen, Chicago, IL; Doug and wife Jill Moore, Lincoln; mother-in-law, Karen Nuttleman, Lincoln; father-in-law, William and wife Phyllis Honnor, Waco, NE; brothers-in-law, Mark and wife Lisa Honnor and Matthew Honnor, all of Lincoln; Aunt Fran and Grandma Lala, Wisconsin; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father Tom Thomassen.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday (3-11-11) Redeemer Lutheran Church, 510 South 33rd. Pastor Mark Ebert, officiating. 1:00 p.m. committal service, Wyuka Cemetery. Meet at ‘O’ Street entrance.
Memorials in lieu of flowers to Education fund for her children, Capital Humane Society or Redeemer Lutheran Church Youth Group.
