Ruth Gwendolyn (Swanson) Urbauer, 102, of Lincoln, widow of Lester L. Urbauer, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012. Born September 7, 1909 at home near Ong, Nebraska to Reynold and Charlotte (Ferree) Swanson. Ruth was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth taught country school and became certified at Peru College to teach town school. Ruth and Lester were small-business owners in Davenport, Nebraska prior to retiring to Lincoln. Ruth enjoyed reading, playing the piano, card games, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Family members include her children: Craig and Joyce Urbauer, Marilyn Williams, all of Lincoln; grandchildren: Mitchell (Veronica) Williams, Michael (Kimberly) Williams, all of Houston, TX, Stephen (Hollie) Urbauer, Lincoln, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Brown, Seattle, WA; great grandchildren: Wyatt, Jackson, Weslee, Harris, Gianna, Francesca, Sarah; sister: Dorothy Swan, Dallas, TX; many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by husband, five sisters and brothers, parents.
Celebration of Life Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Eastmont Towers, 6315 ‘O’ Street with Pastor Bob Jones officiating. No Visitation/Cremation.
