Ruth E. Vaughan, 90, of Lincoln, widow of Lawrence, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013. Born January 25, 1923 in Kenesaw, NE to Gerald and Florence (Brush) Norton. Elementary School Teacher. Member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, P.E.O. Chapter AI, Women’s Wesleyan Educational Council, Sunflower Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Past Board Member of University Place Art Center (Lux Center for the Arts), Lincoln Area Retired Teachers Assn., Trustee of the Foundation of Lincoln Public Schools, Admiral in the Nebraska Navy, Heritage League and received key to the city from Mayor Dean Peterson.
She is survived by sister and brothers in law, Grace and David Evans, St. Petersburg, FL, Wendell Atchison, Cozad, NE; daughter in law, Carol (Vaughan) Luecker, Cottonwood, AZ; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; husband; sons, Victor and Gerald Vaughan and nephew Paul Atchison.
Memorial service: 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd.
