Roger and I served in A Company, 50th Signal Battalion for several years. I remember when he first arrived. We were both in the barracks, broke, and only a half pack of cigarettes between us. But we immediately hit it off and spent that afternoon, and years more, playing guitars and singing Hank Williams Jr. and Merle Haggard tunes. He drew people to him and everyone wanted to hang out with him. It was probably just his awesome 68 GTO. He helped me learn Spanish while we were on Tiger Island in Honduras. Once we moved into Tegucigalpa we experienced radicals blowing up the election headquarters a couple blocks away and where we almost got shot on our way to exchange currency. Seems a couple of drunks were running by us where one had a gun and was shooting at the other. We both dove under the nearest car until the mayhem subsided. We followed each other to Germany, but ended up in different units. He later transferred to Korea and I finished my tour in Germany. After separating and met up for the last time in South Carolina on his way back to the Middle East with Fluor and we only stayed in touch intermittently after he returned and got married. I’m sad to say my contact with him reduced to best wishes for Christmas and New Years. I wish we had spent more time together. Rest easy brother.

Dale, you and your family were such a huge part of my childhood. The family vacations, the nights on the porch with you and your daddy playing guitar and singing, all the girls damn near drowning themselves to get your attention at the pool, the food, the laughs, the talks. The list of memories is endless. I have listened to “Sunday in the South” since the day I found out you were gone. It was the song you sang so well and brings tears to my eyes just remembering all the good times. Fly high Dale. You left your mark on this world, time to rest and be with those who were waiting for you.

Rodger was a friend who I could always count on and was crazy funny. The story of those walkie-talkies 🤣. If it wasn’t for Rodger I wouldn’t be here. Thanks for saving my life. I’m so sad to have to say goodbye, you and your infectious smile will be missed.

I worked as Roger’s Manager while he was working in Iraq as a contractor. I could always count on him to do a great job and didn’t have to worry about him. Also enjoyed his guitar playing on the evenings we had dept bbq’s. He will be sorely missed.

My memory of you is every single moment that you were my brother. I will miss our phone calls while you were driving to work or on your way home. We really could talk about absolutely anything with each other. I will miss you, there are no words to express how much I am going to miss you! I love you Dale!!!

My ole man Bill Patsch worked with Roger and Barry Martin , and a few others for a few years, across the big pond for KBR. Brenda was My Boss and was single. My boys and I hung out a few times thanks to the band Red Ice. Any way I sold Brenda on Roger, and sold Roger on Brenda. One phone call from across the seas, to Brenda and Roger has it all under control from then on. Perfect match from then on, no question! One time via my email AOL.com Roger sent the sound track of him singing Tesla for Brenda, and wanted to know, if she would like it lol. I told him she will adore it for ever!! Roger Dale you will be truly missed by all, and truly loved forever!!!

I served with Roger in the US Army. Roger was an excellent Paratrooper. We served in Aco. 50th Signal Bn. 35th Signal Brigade (AIRBORNE) Roger was an awesome soldier. He was tactically and technically proficient. He was an awesome leader. He cared for the soldiers in his unit and led by setting the example. When I purchased my first motorcycle Roger worked with me, giving me one on one instruction. He would help anyone. Roger always displayed a positive outlook on life. I was blessed to serve with him.
