Rogene attended Lincoln School of Commerce and began her career at Farmers Mutual Insurance. While busy raising her family, she also babysat, then held a number of other jobs while keeping the house running smoothly. Later in life she worked for the Lancaster County Department of Motor Vehicles where she enjoyed talking to nearly everyone in the county. She formed many friendships that she treasured long into retirement years.
Rogene met Gary Isaacson at the Pla Mor Ballroom in 1963 and they were married on July 17, 1965. Together they had three children, Kimberly, Brian, and Kelli. In 1978, Gary and Rogene built their home on Davey Road where they spent the rest of their married life together. Rogene always had a yard full of flowers and a house full of plants, activity, and love. She loved living on Davey Road and loved her neighbors.
Rogene was patient and generous. She was always working a crossword puzzle, enjoyed Wheel of Fortune, and her phone never stopped ringing. She and Gary traveled around the country and the world but were just as content meeting up with friends and enjoying happy hours together close to home. She loved her seven grandchildren and felt blessed to watch them grow into young adults.
Rogene was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and was helped along on this difficult journey by her family, friends, and her care teams at Cancer Partners of Nebraska, Tabitha Home Health and Hospice, and The Grace Space. She was fiercely independent as long as able and bore her burden with grace and dignity. She had a strong faith in God and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Waverly, NE for nearly 50 years. Her family would like to thank all involved for their compassionate love and care.
Rogene lived a full life. Her family takes comfort in the knowledge of her abiding faith and their cherished memories of a life well lived. She left a wonderful legacy.
“Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.”
Left to cherish Rogene’s memory are her children Kimberly Stuhr (Adam Thody), Springfield, NE; Brian Isaacson (Meg), St. Paul, MN; Kelli Vonderfecht (Sean), Hastings, NE; grandchildren Juliana and Ethan Stuhr, Marit and Sigurd Isaacson, Emily Maynard (Will), Derek and Andrew Vonderfecht. Brother Arlan Parr, sister Connie Thiessen (Tom), sister-in-law Marilyn Kahler, brother-in-law Dale Isaacson (Pat), and numerous extended family members and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Gary.
