Rod Kriz

Rod Kriz, 61, died January 3, 2020 in Lincoln, NE.

Rod was born February 26, 1958 in Lincoln to Joseph and Shirley (Wright) Kriz.

He was deeply loved by his family. His children, Adam and Kyle meant the world to him and he loved his son-in-law Stephen and daughter-in-law Allie as his own. His granddaughter Claire Mary was the light of his life.

Rod began collecting wonderful friends at a young age and he loved each and every one of them. He loved adventure and traveling and the great outdoors. Rod was an avid hunter and cherished the traditions that grew from those times. His love of adventure took him all over the world, from climbing to the top of Kilimanjaro, scuba diving in Hawaii, bicycling through the five boroughs of New York and six weeks hiking the Appalachian Trail. Rod was a lifelong learner which earned him a masters degree. He loved to read and was always studying new subjects. He took great pride in his deep knowledge of “useless” facts.

Rod had a strong faith and a love of God. He studied the bible and completed the four-year Education for Ministry program to deepen his understanding and strengthen his faith.

He is survived and loved by his wife Susan (McIntosh), son Adam (Allie) of Lincoln, daughter Kyle Lennartz (Stephen), granddaughter Claire Mary of Overland Park, KS, sister Beth Coufal (Del), nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Rod deeply loved his family, countless friends, and his church.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday (1-8-20) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 2325 South 24th Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mathews Episcopal Church Priest’s Discretionary Fund.
