Rob was a caring and compassionate individual who experienced life’s struggles but never gave up and never stopped trying. He will be remembered by his friends and family for his loyalty, generosity, and quick wit; he could truly find humor in any situation.
Rob’s most recent passions were playing ice hockey in the “old man’s league,” watching the New Orleans Saints, and playing video games online with his friends. Friends and family will forever cherish their memories of Rob, such as his early encounter with a baby octopus, his willingness to ride the stairs in a laundry basket launched by his sister, the love of fireworks he shared with his father, and his subtle eye rolls while sharing an office with his mother.
Born in Lincoln on June 1, 1983, Rob is survived by his family and his cherished dog Harriet. He was a devoted son to his parents, John and DeAnn Cummins, and a loyal brother to his sister Kelly Cummins and brother-in-law Shayne Sivley. He leaves behind his great aunt Mary Alice Lien and aunts and uncles: Jim Cummins, Arlan Johnson, Bruce and Sandi Johnson, and Craig and Tammy Johnson. Rob was also close with his cousins: Zach and Stesha Schneider, Matt Schneider, and Nick Johnson. Though not bound by blood, his friends were his chosen family and they will also profoundly miss his presence.
It is our hope that Rob will live on in the memories and stories that we share. An open house and celebration of Rob’s life will be held from 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. on November 1, 2025, at the Forest Lake Estates Clubhouse (6834 Summerset Court, Lincoln, Nebraska 68516).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Rob’s honor to Capital Humane Society, a cause that was close to his heart.
