Robert Eugene (Bob) Logsdon, 84, of Lincoln, died Monday, June 4, 2012. Born March 12, 1928 in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Raymond and Freda (Snyder) Logsdon.
Bob joined the Navy, right out of high school, in May 1945. After his discharge he attended Peru State College for two years. He then owned several businesses in Tecumseh.
In 1952 he married Delores M. Colton of Tecumseh, NE. They lived in Tecumseh for a few years and then moved to Lincoln where Bob owned The Spigot in downtown Lincoln. In 1958 Bob became the Manager of The Legionnaire Club in Lincoln. He remained in that position for 40 years and due to his efforts and personality “The Club” became the world’s largest Legionnaire Club. It was the place to be on Husker Football Saturdays.
Bob was a member of many organizations throughout his life and career but the one special to him was the Shriner organization, especially their Children’s Hospitals.
Bob served on the Nebraska State Horse Racing Commission and, in his “retirement” served as a State Liquor Commissioner for 12 years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Delores, and three children; Terri (Steve) Anderman, of Plano, TX, Laurie Logsdon; son, Rob Logsdon, both of Lincoln, NE. He leaves 3 grandchildren, Joel (Maggi) Wiegert. Of Gretna, NE, Carrie Wiegert, of Lincoln, NE and Kyle Anderman, of Austin, TX; 2 great granddaughters. And, of course, Bob leaves behind a “legion” of friends.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes there will be no funeral nor memorial service. He wished for a private, family only service and inurnment of cremains.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
