Bobby grew up in Wahoo, NE and attended Wahoo High School. In Lincoln, Bobby met Lucille Lavon Kirkland and they were married at Trinity Methodist Church on May 5, 1951. They moved to San Diego, California where he served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Boxer during the Korean conflict. They were later stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. Bobby and Lucille were married for 71 years and blessed with 3 children, Brenda, Pamela, and Randy. Bobby returned to the States after the conflict and worked most of his life for the Burlington Northern Railroad in various capacities until his retirement.
Bobby was an active member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Brotherhood of Conductors Union, and St. Marks United Methodist Church.
Bobby enjoyed travel with Lucille in their RV camper with their friends and family. He enjoyed fishing, skiing, golf, and morning breakfasts with his work buddies. He had an appreciation of music and loved to dance with Lucille. He had many talents and could repair anything. Bobby was a positive, private, and patient man dedicated to his family. He had a talent for listening and would only offer advice if asked.
Bobby is survived by his three children, Brenda (William) Stutzman of Lincoln, Pamela Hanson of Lincoln, and Randy Hanson of Loveland, Colorado. As well as his 6 grandchildren Chad, Amy, Jessica, Cole, Natalie, and Kirk and his 9 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucille, and brother Ralph (Geraldyne) Hanson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive.
A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
