Robert (Bob) N. Stevenson, 89 of Lincoln, passed away on September 30, 2013. Born in Burlington, Colo., his family moved to Lincoln when Bob was four and his father purchased the University Place News, a weekly newspaper and printing company. Bob graduated from the newly-built Northeast High School in 1942 and from Nebraska Wesleyan in 1947. Bob married Burnadette (Burny) Yeutter of Cozad in 1947. He was CEO of the family print shop, Northeast Printers, until it was sold in 2002.
He served as president of Printing Industries of the Midlands, Northeast YMCA and the University Place Business Association. He was a founder of the University Place Art Center and a board member of the Lincoln Symphony. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Theta Chi Fraternity, North Star Lodge No. 227, AFS Youth Exchange, Friendship Force exchange program and was appointed to the Lincoln Human Rights Commission by Mayor Schwarzkopf.
Bob was an avid stained glass artist, and had a love of classical music and books.
He is preceded in death by Burny and is survived by his four children: April Stevenson, Owen (Jan) Stevenson, Sara (Brad) Ewerth (all of Lincoln) and Joy Stevenson (David Burks) of Singapore; Niece: Linda Stevenson (Lincoln); Grandchildren: Anna (Andrew) Parker (Asheville, NC), Anders Finkelson (St. Paul, MN), Rob (Megan Benoit) Stevenson (Smyrna, GA), Laura Stevenson (Omaha), Lindsay Ewerth (Scottsdale, AZ), Amanda Ewerth (Lincoln), Austin Burks (Easton, PA) and Eleanor Burks (Singapore); Great Grandchildren: Ethan Rand (Omaha) and Draven Stevenson (Smyrna, GA).
Family members will greet friends at Eastmont’s Main Lounge, 6315 O Street, Saturday, October 5, 7-9pm. We will be celebrating Bob’s life at First United Methodist Church, 50th & St. Paul, on Sunday, October 6 at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lux Center for the Arts scholarship fund.
