My fondest memory of Rick is when he & his dad, Larry, accompanied our family/the Omaha Reebles (Dave, Sherry, Amber & Paige) on a hike down to Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The girls & myself had been feeding the wildlife (we couldn’t tell if it was a rat or a mouse so we nicknamed it Matt Rouse) before we slept on the canyon floor w/out tents in just our sleeping bags. We sandwiched the girls in the middle w/a pair of adults on each end. Rick told Amber & Paige that if a creature crawled on him in the middle of the night looking for a snack that he would fling it their way since they were to his left & he was left-handed. We laughed at this but not sure how much sleep we got as we heard rustling around us all night long. Luckily no animal was hurled in anyone’s direction. It was a great trip & one I will never forget. RIP Rick, we will miss you!

Two words I heard often from Rick-“You’re welcome.” He was always helping fix or solve something. A life well lived, humble and kind.

I enjoyed working with Rick for many years. He was kind, helpful, and always brought the fun! We counted on him to organize basketball brackets, chili cook-offs and to keep the office coffee pot perking. Some of my favorite memories of Rick are of watching him with his children when they were young. Walks in parks and prairies during our monthly family nature club gatherings were better with Rick’s sense of humor and love for the outdoors. Tina, Chloe, Zachary, and Rory, I am so sorry for your loss. I am sending love, light, and prayers during this difficult time.

I coached baseball with Rick when Rory and my son Alex were on the same team. When Rory was batting if his elbow was too low Rick would say “chicken wing” and Rory would immediately raise it. It always made me smile. Rest in Peace Rick.

I met Rick when I started at Moving Parts in 2006, since in addition to his regular job, he was our “Chief Information Officer”! I always enjoyed Rick’s sense of humor, and the way he handled my stupid IT questions. He will be missed here on earth, but will be welcomed in heaven by God and his mom. My prayers go out to the family for healing and fond/fun memories.

I worked with Rick at Nebraska Book Company for many years ordering & having equipment shipped that he requisitioned. He was more then just a coworker, I considered him a friend. The big question is, how do you tell a friend you’re not a fan of the Krispy Kreme roll he brought you now & then…..you don’t, just smile, eat it & drink lots of coffee.

So I was a member of the wedding party. During the get-togethers and meeting Rick, he showed me some “rattlesnake eggs” in a box. Not realizing it was a prank, I jumped so high when it “went off”. He had a great sense of humor and streak of fun I was privileged to see. God Bless <3

Hearing this breaks my heart. Rick was a wonderful friend throughout my youth. We were in youth group together and I have many great memories of that time. Rick’s mom Sue was a sweet friend to my grandma as well. My thoughts are with the family as they continue through this difficult time.
