Richard L. “Dick” Rieckman, 65, Alvo, NE, died Monday (8-1-11) in Omaha after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Lifelong farmer. Born (8-17-45) in Lincoln, Nebraska to Donald O. and Iola I. (Rosencrantz) Rieckman. Graduate of Eagle High School class of 1963. Married to Sandra I. Polenz on May 5, 1967. Member of First United Methodist Church of Waverly.
Family members include wife of 44 years, Sandra; daughters, sons-in-law: Tracy and Beryl Popp, Broken Bow, NE and Tammy and Brad Rikli, Murdock, NE; grandchildren: Charmayne and Jordan Popp, Miguel, David, Sergio, Mia and Liana Rikli; mother: Iola Rieckman; sister: Jean Rieckman, both of Waverly, NE; brother, sister-in-law: Jim and Judy Rieckman, Vancouver, WA; brother-in-law, spouse: Roger and Connie Polenz, Sterling, CO; sister-in-law: Margie Polenz, Bellevue, NE; parents-in-law: Kenneth and Norma Polenz, Waverly, NE; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Donald, brother-in-law, Dick Polenz.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday (8-6-11) First United Methodist Church, 11410 Folkestone, Waverly, NE. Pastors James Wallasky and Robert Neben, officiating. Graveside Service 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Callahan Cemetery, 286th & Bluff Road, Murdock, NE.
