He was a licensed fire safety expert, certified confined space and SCBA trainer, and master mechanic. He was a doer, adventurer, explorer and lover of life. He loved his country and enjoyed grilling brats, making his crazy hot baked beans, and spending time with family and friends.
An avid outdoorsman, he was known for his camping, motorcycling and 4-wheeling adventures from the sandhills of Halsey’s Nebraska National Forest to the winter ice roads of Canada. He appreciated well-designed equipment and machinery because his life often depended on it. His experiences include fuel quality control for the Lincoln airport, cadaver diver, downed airplane retrieval, snow rescue, industrial climber, precision shooter, rattle snake hunter, Rottweiler enthusiast, volunteer forest fire fighter, fabricator, and inventor.
He is survived by his many good friends; wife Nancy Raun; daughters Cindy Doll Skutchan (spouse Anton, daughters Sharon and Nancy) and Lori McPherson Louch (spouse Kelly, son Alex, grandson Max, Kelly’s daughter Sara); Cindy and Lori’s mother Sharon Doll; brother Tom Doll (spouse Thach); sister Mary Bolas (spouse Ed, sons Tom and Chris); Nancy’s mother Georgia; and Nancy’s sisters Michele (spouse Deb) and Patricia (spouse Alan, sons Ben and Zach).
Per Dick Doll’s request, there will be no formal service.
