Reta M. Johnson

October 21, 1919 - August 15, 2013

Reta M. Johnson, was born October 21, 1919, died August 15, 2013, at age 93. On June 3, 2009, Larry and Reta celebrated the 70th Anniversary of their marriage and Reta is wearing her wedding dress in the picture. Before their retirements, Reta was the Deputy Librarian of the Supreme Court Library in the State Capitol and Larry was an electrical engineer who worked for Consumers Public Power District and Lincoln Electric System.

Mom enjoyed bridge, cooking, her flowers and her friends. Dad was a wonderful mechanic and inventor, and into his nineties, rode his high-seated bike all around town. As they lived together, so did Reta and Larry wish to celebrate their lives together.

Thank you for the wonderful care which Mom and Dad received in their home from Marianne Giltner, Penny Jacobsen, Lonnie Jacobsen, Elizabeth Martinez, Kim Baird, Jett Jakota, Mel Degenhardt and Michaela Akridge.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Johnson and Edna Seaman Johnson. Reta was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin C. Lavery and Elizabeth Mary Bowden Lavery, and by her sister, Cleta Eileen Lahm and her brothers, Nile Lavery and Murl Lavery.

Larry and Reta are survived by daughter, Linda Brown, and son, Kile Johnson, and his wife, Virginia (Cuz) Johnson; grandchildren and spouses, Dirk and Jessica Johnson, Paige and Matt Roberts, Tate and Rose Johnson, Jennifer N. Brown, Evan Brown and Anita Springsteen; and great-grandchildren Breanna and Gage Johnson, Emerson and Charles and Ryan Roberts, Rowen Duffy, Tristin and Atticus Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Lincoln Community Foundation, 215 Centennial Mall South, Suite 100, Lincoln, NE 68508.
