Paul Baker Wendell passed away Dec. 9th at Monarch Hospice, reuniting with Sondra, the love of his life and wife of 60 years who passed Nov. 6th. A lifelong Lincolnite, Paul was born to Herman and Minne (Baker) Wendell and was the youngest of four children. He attended College View High School where he was a standout athlete competing in football and track, and serving as president of the Lettermen Society. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in business from UNL, marrying Sondra soon after his graduation.
Paul enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada with his family, golfing at Hillcrest Country Club, and football parties and trips with family and friends. He had a quick humor and made friends easily with all he met.
Paul was a man of integrity and character who dearly loved his family. He was a kind and unfailingly generous father and man. His exemplary love and encouragement were constant.
Paul is survived by his sisters Mary Gacke and Jean Hovey in Lincoln, daughters Shari Scherzer (Craig), Keller, TX, and Kristy Kromberg (Russ), Lincoln, NE; son Greg Wendell (Annmarie Logue), Littleton, CO; grandchildren Mike Fields, Tim Fields, Austin Kromberg, Megan Fields and Jamie Kromberg, and two great-grandchildren.
We all miss him terribly; we know he missed our Mom and that they are happily together again.
The family will be making arrangements for a private memorial.
