After graduating from Indianola High School, he joined the United States Army. His platoon was the first to be designated as a special services unit, where Norman served as a paratrooper.
After proudly serving his country, Norman returned to Iowa and received his degree from the American Institute of Business. He then held several professional accounting positions in Des Moines until he retired.
Throughout his life, Norman was physically active, liked to golf, fish and travel. He always loved a home cooked meal and thoroughly enjoyed dessert. Although a quiet man, he appreciated the conversations of others while being in the company of those he knew well.
Norman is predeceased by his wife Margaret, parents Roy and Beulah, brothers Rodney (Norma), Aubrey and Dennis.
He is survived by nieces/nephews Susan Samuelson (Scott), Randy Reed (Traci), Matt Reed and Jennifer Reed, sister-in-laws Marvel Reed and Judy Adkins, along with his great nieces/nephews.
Services will be held at Peterson Funeral Home of Indianola, Iowa on November 11th at 11:00 am with a viewing preceding at 10:30.
