Norma Jean (Knippelmeyer) Hauptmeier, 74, of Lincoln, died April 28, 2019, at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born February 13, 1945, in Tecumseh, Nebraska, to Julius and Lula (Myers) Knippelmeyer. She was baptized and confirmed at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, Lincoln.
Jean and James Hauptmeier were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church, on August 6, 1966, and spent over 52 blessed years together. They both felt like they hit the lottery of love – and they did!
Jean graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1963. She retired from the DHS, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in July 2017 after 22 years as an immigration officer. Earlier in life, Jean had worked for Lincoln Telephone, Child Guidance and Lincoln Police Department as well as other jobs that led to long-time friendships with people she cherished. You know who you are.
She had a strong faith in the Lord and loved her family more than anything; she felt most at home when all of her children and grandchildren were together under one roof. This love extended to her nieces and nephews, their children and really anyone who was close to someone she loved. She will be forever missed. She also had a quick wit and a keen sense and kinship with all people. Even strangers would share their innermost thoughts and secrets after meeting her only minutes before.
Survivors are her husband, James; daughter, Julie (Gregg) Harre of Lincoln; son, Clint (Sabine) Hauptmeier of Austin, TX; daughter, Jamie (Dusty) Cink of Lincoln; grandchildren, Becca Perry, Luke Hauptmeier, Levi Hauptmeier, and Rachel Harre; step-grandchildren, Kelsey Perry, Sarah Harre, Sarah Hayden, Ryan Cink; sisters, Alyce Chrastil, Mary Lou Lairmore, Judy Wolfe; sisters-in-law, Wilma Knippelmeyer, Verna Boden, and Maxine (John) Focken; brothers-in-law, Don Rutt, Paul Hilmer, Wayne (Caroline) Hauptmeier, Dan (Genniene) Hauptmeier; and many loving nieces and nephews.
