Obituary

Nancy Ann Lind-Olson

December 16, 1953 - November 21, 2025

Nancy Ann (Schaffer) Lind-Olson, 71, of Lincoln, NE passed away November 21, 2025. She was born December 16, 1953, in Lincoln, NE to Robert and Doris (Nelson) Schaffer, of Raymond, NE. Nancy developed autoimmune liver disease requiring a liver transplant in 2012. The transplant allowed her an extra 13 years in which she was able to see her daughters get married and meet her grandchildren. She said many times that her family was her greatest accomplishment.

Nancy attended Raymond Central High School and graduated in 1972. There she met her husband of 51 years, Steven Ray Lind-Olson, and they were united in marriage June 1, 1974. Nancy attended Lincoln School of Commerce for one year. She worked in the offices of the St. Elizabeth Wellness Center, and at the University of NE for many years until her retirement. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE for 40 years. Nancy was an avid sports enthusiast her entire life. She played softball, volleyball, track and field, was a majorette in the band and enjoyed riding horses. She was a board member of the UNL softball booster organization for many years, and still attended games when she was able. Nancy enjoyed watching both her daughters play sports, and was often traveling somewhere with them to catch a tournament.  Nancy enjoyed traveling, and made sure her family enjoyed a vacation every year. They had many adventures road tripping with their camper, visited Mexico several times, and made annual visits to Lake of the Ozarks. Nancy’s parents owned a mobile home at Harlan County Reservoir in Republican City, NE, and many summer days were spent with her family, parents, brothers and sisters fishing on the lake.

Nancy had a zest for life. She was a “real pistol” as someone stated recently.  She was stubborn, loyal, loving, spiritual and generous. Everyone was her friend. These attributes served her well in life, and no doubt have been passed on to her daughters and grandchildren.

Family members include, husband, Steven Lind-Olson, of Lincoln, NE; daughters, Brookley (Jeff) Norris, of Ceresco, NE and Makenzie (Van) Hough, of Elkhorn, NE; grandchildren, Kiera Norris, Delaney Norris, Keston Hough and Becklind Hough; sisters, Sandra Schaffer, of Lincoln, NE and Cheryl  (Steve) Jones, of Houston, TX; brothers, Richard Schaffer and Steven Schaffer, of Raymond, NE; special aunt, Joan Pokorny, of Lincoln, NE; along with many aunts, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris Schaffer, brother, Ricky Schaffer, mother-in-law, Janet Olson-Harms, father-in-law, Raymond Lind, step fathers-in-law, Merle Olson and Louis Harms, great aunt, Louise Nelson, grandparents, sister-in-law, aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held 5:30 pm-7:30 pm Monday, December 1, 2025 at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 N. 27th Street, Lincoln, NE.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at United Lutheran Church, 5945 Fremont Street, Lincoln, NE.

My second mom my whole life; my aunt, my volleyball coach, softball coach, my cheerleader always, and everything a niece could ask for. All my life memories have her in it, and going to miss her like crazy. Spunky for sure and continuing that in heaven. Love her so much and thinking of you all during this time🙏💔🥰

I will remember Nancy as spunky, loving and generous. Time went by quickly during visits with her; it was easy to talk and laugh for hours, and her energy always filled a room. May she rest easy now, free of pain. So thankful to the organ donor that gave her the gift of life to watch her family grow. I will miss her.
