Obituary

Matthew LeGrande

July 21, 1983 - August 17, 2025

Matthew Timothy LeGrande, 42, of Lincoln passed away August 17, 2025. Born July 21, 1983, in Lincoln, NE to Timothy and Cynthia (Knuth) LeGrande.

Matt was baptized 9-11-83 at Faith Lutheran Church, confirmed 4-5-98 at Holy Savior Lutheran Church, graduated high school 6-3-2001 from Lincoln Northeast High School. Matt was an avid reader of many authors, James Patterson was one of his favorites. Movie goer, watcher and collector, James Bond movies were a favorite. His love for music of every type across many decades was huge some artists include Heart, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Styks, George Strait, Keith Whitley and a whole list of others. Matt loved to go to bars with friends and family and do Kareoke. Go to songs The Chair, Watermelon Crawl and Rock Lobster. His love for concerts and musicals was like no other making sure he saved every ticket stub. He saw many concerts of the names listed above. Rent was his favorite musical which he seen many times including once with his parents who still don’t understand it. Matt was a long time fan of the Oklahomer Sooners starting as far back as Jr. High. Boomer Sooner Matt. His yells could be heard throughout our whole house.

Matt worked in the food industry for most of his working career until his disease would not allow it to be safe anymore. Matt was the oldest of three sons to Tim and Cindy and loved all his family and friends so much. He loved to laugh and his laughter touched everyone. One of his favorite holidays was the 4th of July which we are so thankful he was able to come out for this past 4th to celebrate the annual party his family and neighbors have put on for years.

He loved both grandparents cabins in Fremont where he spent alot of time growing up over the years. One funny moment was when he walked into the Knuth cabin with his cousin Trevor directly behind him holding a fishing rod with the treble lure attached to the top of his head. Off to ER he went. Can see it like it was yesterday. Once he came home and his beautiful blond hair was purple. Mother said heck no and within 4 hours at a salon had it back to almost original, before his dad seen it.

Matt was loved by his family and friends and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Family members include his parents Tim and Cindy; brothers Josh and Ben LeGrande; grandmother Wilma Knuth; aunts and uncles Dave (Marcia) Knuth and Dan (Annette) LeGrande, Marcia Knuth and Vicki (Dave) Rogers; niece Sadie Hereth; and many cousins. Preceded in death by his grandparents Robert Knuth, Carol LeGrande, Norman LeGrande, and uncle Lynn Knuth.

I am so sorry to learn of Matt’s passing. I taught at LNE and remember book discussions with him. He was a special young man.

Cindy, Tim, Josh and Ben, I’m was so sorry to hear of Matt’s passing. As a physician, there are many families and individuals I will never forget. Your family helped me to understand and appreciate the power of love and commitment, especially in those times when medicine still doesn’t have the answers we want. I always enjoyed the conversations Matt and I had, and to this day have yet to meet a more dedicated OU fan! Even in the worst of times he wouldn’t budge…reminds me of a few Husker fans I know! Matt’s about the only person I’d say this for…Boomer Sooner Matt!

Cindy and Tim, I was so sorry to learn that Matt passed away. I’m not sure if you remember our family. We lived near you in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. We lived on Atlas Avenue.
