Matthew L. Martin

Matthew L. Martin, 61, passed away on February 4, 2025. He was born December 7, 1963. He was born December 7, 1963 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Ronald & Joyce (Sheeder) Martin. He attended school in Ashland, Nebraska. After high school he started working at Ameritas in Lincoln and celebrated his 40th work anniversary with them in December 2024. He met his wife Sherri (Thomas) Martin in a country line dance group that they both belonged to. They married in Lincoln in 1988. Matt & Sherri had two children, Spenser and Mikayla. They have several grandchildren and great grandchildren that they are very proud of and Matthew loved spending time with them. He also loved country music, Metallica, playing guitar, and video games.

Matthew is survived by wife Sherri of Lincoln, brothers Marty (Shelly) Martin of Greenwood, and Mike (Pam) Martin of Lincoln; children Spenser Martin of Lincoln, and Mikayla Lott of Denton; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Ronald & Joyce Martin and son-in-law Steven Lott Jr.

Celebration of Life to be held 10:00 a.m., on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr., Lincoln (16).

A visitation with family will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., also at Roper and Sons South Chapel.

Memorials to the family for future designation.

Matt, you were my precious friend for 40 years. I remember so many things from those early years, like the exhibition line dancing we did for the state fair. You, me, and Wes side by side as we hid behind everyone else, and so many other laughs!!! I’m so very grateful that we were able to spend a week together at my house a couple of years ago. Missing you… Praying for your family, that God will grant them His peace. You’re loved!
