Obituary

Mary-Ann K. Clinton

July 13, 1939 - October 7, 2025

Mary-Ann Kennerly Clinton (born July 13, 1939) danced into heaven on October 7, 2025. Despite being stricken by polio at the age of six, Mary-Ann lived a remarkable and impactful life. While polio profoundly altered the final eighty years of her life, Mary-Ann simply refused to let the disease define her. She will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her iron will, and her positive attitude that served as a continual inspiration for family, friends, and acquaintances far and wide. In her later years, Mary-Ann published her memoirs (Not Your Average) Tidewater Girl, which masterfully tells her life history through a collection of insightful and humorous essays and personal reflections.

Mary-Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years John Arthur Clinton and her parents Harold Barton Kennerly, Jr. and Dorothy (White) Kennerly. She is survived by her son Mark Kennerly Clinton, her granddaughter Solenne Donnadieu-Clinton (along with her mother Anne Donnadieu), brothers-in-law Paul and Philip Clinton, and sisters-in-law Doris and Debby Clinton, as well as numerous much-loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A service celebrating Mary-Ann’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Boulevard, Lincoln, NE.

I was a caregiver for Mrs Mary-Ann for a little under a year. She was always so sweet to me every time I came over. I absolutely loved hearing all the stories she had or all the pictures she shared from her younger days. I also remember how excited she was to tell me her book was finally published, I was so proud of her! Such an amazing accomplishment. Oh, and I can’t forget about all of her little trinkets that were all over her apartment, I was always in awe especially during Christmas time. She was such a brave and beautiful woman, I cherished our visits every week, I’m forever thankful to have met such a sweet soul. May she rest in peace. 🤍
