Marlene Joyce (Rathe) Janssen, 78, of Lincoln, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday (6-5-13). Born (1-11-35) in Sterling, NE to August C. and Lena A. (Heussmann) Rathe. Married (9-2-54)to Darwyn R. Janssen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Sterling.
Graduated from Sterling H.S. (1953) and attended Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, NE. Retired from Saint Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center (1999). Marlene was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the Lancaster County Election Board. She enjoyed many family activities, trips to Northern Minnesota, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and traveling to Colorado and Northeastern states. She also enjoyed Husker sports, loved music, especially the pipe organ.
Those left to mourn are sons, Roger (Jeanine), Steve (Stephanie), Mike (Karen), all of Lincoln; grandchildren, Blake, Cory, Jerad, Darin, Craig, Derek, Shelby and Nickolas; step-grandchildren, Marc (Jennifer) Hausmann; step-great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Tristan Hausmann; sisters-in-law, Frieda Rathe, Darleen Jacka. Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years, Darwyn; son, Richard; brothers, Herbert, Orvin and Dalen Rathe; sisters, Ella Buss and Irma Bentzinger; brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Monday (6-10-13) Christ Lutheran Church, 4325 Sumner Street with Rev. Dr. Luke Schnake officiating. Burial in Sterling, NE.

Visitation: 2-8 pm Saturday and Sunday with family greeting friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street and prior to service time at the church.
