Marilyn Jo (Soflin) McAvoy, 80, of Lincoln, passed away at home with family on 02/06/2012. Born 06/08/1931 in Lincoln to Carl and Marguerite (Metzger) Soflin.
Graduated from Lincoln High. Country Western singer with sister Betty Mae, “Betty & Lyn,” at KMA radio in Shenandoah, IA. Married to Francis “Mac” McAvoy on 09/29/1957 until his death 04/16/2006.
Homemaker, wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. Survived by daughter, Charlotte (Mark) Kyriss and granddaughter Cassie; son Scott McAvoy and grandchildren Dustin Lindgren and Paige McAvoy; also many nieces and nephews especially Bob Soflin, John Soflin, and Rob Soflin.
Preceeded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Fred and Bill Soflin, sister Betty Mae Soflin, nephew Fred Soflin, Jr.
Visitation Sun, 2-8pm with family present 6-8pm, at Roper’s & Sons.
Service 1 p.m., Mon, 02/13/2012 at First-Plymouth Congregational UCC.
