Obituary

Marian “Mo” Helen Statton

January 10, 1924 - November 24, 2024

Marian “Mo” Helen Statton, 100, of Lincoln passed away November 24, 2024. Born January 10, 1924, in Waterloo, IA to Claude and Helen (Bulthuis) Orvis.

Mo’s first priority was her family. She was always there for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and made great desserts.

She also had many interests outside the home. She was an avid bridge player, sang and played bells in the church choir, and was active in many groups including PEO, Tuesday Review, and Lancaster Medical Auxiliary. She was very good at needlepoint and cross stitch. She and her husband loved to travel and went all over the world together. In her later years, when travel was difficult for her, she urged her children to go on trips so that she could go with them vicariously.

She was a warm, kind and generous person. She touched many lives, and all would agree that they were better for having known her. Even as her eyesight failed and her knee became increasingly painful, she never complained and was always a pleasure to be around.

Marian was a member of the First Plymouth Congregational Church, Lincoln Symphony Guild, P.E.O. Chapter DL, Midwest Metropolitan Opera Auditions Board, Medical Auxiliary, Tuesday Review, and Pink Ladies. She leaves family and friends around the country – around the world – who loved her dearly and will miss her terribly.

Family members include her daughter Martha (John) Imbalzano, Newark, DE; son Stephen (Linda) Statton, Lincoln; her AFS daughter Ipek Merey; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, daughter Rebecca Statton, and sister Roberta McKee.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at First Plymouth Congregational Church in the Fellowship Hall.

Martha, I remember your Mom as our backyard neighbor and also attending Westminster Church many years ago. When my Mom passed away in 1976, your Mom sent me the kindest and most comforting letter of sympathy, and I’ll never forget that. It meant a lot to me. Prayers of comfort and peace for you and your family on her passing.

I have wonderful memories of Marian! I so enjoyed her friendship through PEO Chapter DL. She was a lady and lots of fun to be with. She enjoyed coming to my Carlisle Clothing Shows and usually found the jacket that “caught her eye” and had to have it. To the family: It was a gift to have Marian in your lives for so long, truly a gift! Love and sympathy, Janice Brown
