Obituary

Marian A. (Prather) Koehn

April 7, 1929 - November 5, 2025

Marian A. (Prather) Koehn, 96, passed away on November 5, 2025. She was born on April 7, 1929, to Archie Prather and Amy Dahl in Wausa, NE.

She lived a life full of love for family and friends, generosity and faith.  She was known for putting others before herself and finding joy with the friends and family who shared her company.  She remained close to nieces who often visited her in Lincoln.

Marian was raised and attended school in Wausa, Nebraska.  She then graduated from Wayne State College with a Business Teaching Degree and began teaching in Bancroft, Nebraska where her future husband was also a teacher.  She married Lowell Koehn on June 8, 1951.  They later taught for 13 years in Osmond, Nebraska, before moving to Fremont, where she also taught for several years.

Family was always a big part of her social circle.  From dances with siblings and their spouses in the early years of their marriage to family reunions with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her apple pies were the best and always requested at events.  She loved knitting and crocheting and created gifts for many people including prayer shawls that went to Tanzania.

Marian made friends wherever she went.  She was a competitive bridge player and still played bridge and bingo at age 96.

Marian is survived by her sons Brad Koehn and Scott (Faye) Koehn; grandchildren – Amy (Jeff) Lynch, Andrew Koehn, Amanda (Matt) Browning, Matt Koehn and fiancé Rachelle, Aaron (Leigh) Koehn; great-grandchildren Ashley Lynch, Emily Lynch, Riley Koehn, Abigail Koehn, Alice Koehn, Gunnar Koehn, Willa Koehn, Margo Koehn, Lenore Koehn and Artie Koehn.

Preceded in death by her husband Lowell Koehn and daughter-in-law Terri Koehn.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr., Lincoln, NE, 68516).  A visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service.

Her burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Osmond Cemetery in Osmond, NE.  There will not be a graveside service.

Memorial contributions can be made to Southwood Lutheran Church Mission Fund.

Condolences and love to my cousins Brad and Scott and to the Koehn families. I didn’t know Aunt Marian that well, but she held a special place in my heart – I love that my daughter Cassandra so closely resembled the pictures of Aunt Marian as a child. I hope that Cassandra’s life is as full as Aunt Marian’s has been.

I have heard so many Marian stories from Scott and Faye. She lived a full life and shared her gifts in many ways. She was a strong woman of faith, with a servant heart and loved by her family. I look forward to hearing more Marian stories as time goes on. Family — be her storyteller. She is a Saint gone before us. — Shalom – Sunni
