She grew up on a good-sized cattle ranch that her grandfather started years prior. Her parents were instrumental in making this ranch grow and prosper through her childhood years and beyond. Lucille was her father’s “go to for help” on the ranch as far as the horses and putting up the hay for the cattle. Lucille had 2 older sisters, Irma and Florence and a younger sister named Jeanette. Lucille left Atkinson after graduating from high school and moved to Lincoln, NE. In Lincoln, she met Bob Hanson and they were married on May 5, 1951 at Trinity Methodist Church. They were blessed with 3 children, Brenda, Pamela and Randy.
They moved to San Diego, CA when Bob was in the Navy during the Korean War and later to Honolulu, HI. Lucille made her life around caring, teaching, and loving her children. She was instrumental in instilling the importance of faith, integrity, and honesty in all her encounters in life. Lucille has 6 grandchildren: Chad, Amy, Jessica, Cole, Natalie, and Kirk. 9 great-grandchildren and has been a champion in influencing them also. Lucille cherished life-long learning/reading and always had the dictionary out for puzzles and word scrambles later in life. She instilled the importance of higher education in all her children and grandchildren.
Lucille was a runner, learned to needlepoint/quilt, enjoyed flowers and photography and loved to sing and dance with Bob. Her grandchildren still reflect on her homemade Runzas, cinnamon rolls and fresh peach pies. She made holidays and birthdays special for everyone in her family and close friends.
Lucille is survived by her husband Bob; children, Brenda (William) Stutzman of Lincoln, Pamela Hanson of Lincoln, and Randy Hanson of Loveland, CO; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; Siblings, Irma (Leonard) Cochran, Florence (Delmar) Denison, and Jeanette (Paul) Masterson.
Funeral service to be held, 1:00 p.m. Friday, 6/10/22 at Roper & Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive, Lincoln, Ne 68526. Family will greet friends prior to the service from Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to St. Marks UMC and the Alzheimer’s Association.
