Linda K. Dempsey

February 6, 1946 - May 30, 2025

Linda Kay Dempsey, 79, of Lincoln, passed away on May 30, 2025. Born on February 6,1946, to Orill Clifford and Agnes (Nelson) Black in Lincoln, NE.

Linda was an only child but found a lifelong best friend in Gwen (Knee) Everett when she was in 5th grade. On July 31, 1965, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Dempsey. Jerry and Linda welcomed their first daughter, Kitt, on September 8, 1967 while Jerry was serving in the military. They then welcomed their second child, Mike, on January 22, 1972. Family was incredibly important to Linda and she became a devoted grandma to four grandchildren. She loved family gatherings and all the traditions that came along with it. 

Linda graduated from Lincoln Southeast and continued her education later in life at Southeast Community College. Linda loved all children and worked in the daycare at Southeast Community College, leading the baby room for many years. She also opened a scrapbook store with her daughter and enjoyed scrapbooking as a hobby throughout her life. Linda also had a lifelong love of animals – particularly dogs.

Linda is survived by her children Kathleen (Steven) Saathoff and Michael (Christine) Dempsey; grandchildren Marielle (William) Herman, Annaliese Saathoff, William Dempsey, and Michael Dempsey, and her best friend Gwen Everett.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, and her parents.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 2:00pm at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr. Lincoln, NE)
