Joyce worked many years for Telex Communications. She was a member of the IBEW.
Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting baby blankets for family members, watching western movies, especially those with John Wayne, and Little House on the Prairie. She was a faithful devoted Christian.
Family members include her daughter Laurie (Dan) Hotopp; sons Robert (Shirley Ann) and Jerry (Barb), daughter-in-law Tina Shirley; nephew Mark (Sherri) Shirley; grandchildren Amy (Scott) Newcomer, Nick (Elaine) Shirley, Scott Shirley, Steven (Jamie) Shirley, Joshua (Julie) Shirley, Ruark (Kristin) Hotopp, Ryan Hotopp, Brad Shirley, Andy Shirley, Dalton Shirley, Jenna (Nick) O’Brien; great grandchildren Kristine Brouwer, Colin Shirley, Elyse Shirley, Jacob Shirley, Ben Shirley, Adriana Shirley, Luke Shirley, Amelia Shirley, Audrey Shirley, Isaiah Shirley, Sadie Shirley, Brett Hotopp, Alexis Hotopp, Rylee Hotopp, Ashlee, Hotopp, Sam Hotopp, Chloe Shirley, Vincent Shirley, Deacon O’Brien; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Lauren Shirley Sr., son Lauren “Chip” Shirley, Jr., sisters Anne Gardner, Edna Mae Ganfield, Jewel Simmons, Eunice Zieler, and Maurine Newland.
Funeral service: 1:00 pm Saturday, June 17, 2023, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm Friday, June 16, 2023, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel.
