One memory a very long time ago was when Leon lined up a date for my husband Roger in a Hastings restaurant. Roger got there first and Leon came in the restaurant stating he had reservations etc. The hostess pointed to Roger sitting across the room and said “Your brother is over there waiting.” Roger enjoyed a few beers and hanging out with Leon back in the day. Memories are priceless!

My parents Ray and Pearl, were neighbors and close friends with Walter and Violet Bruhn. Nadine and I attended the one-room school at rural district #11 for eight years. Thus I have many memories of those days growing up on the farm. Leon was the big kid. Special memories of him include bouncing the basketball in the kitchen and making the dishes rattle. Second, was during Christmas season, he could not pass the living room without arranging the letters N-O-E-L back to L-e-o-n on the console tv set.

Many years ago when Leon & I were both 5, his family came to visit us at our farm in Brush. We all went on a day trip to the mountains. Walter & my dad, Lewis Bruhn, did some fishing. Leon & I ‘shot bears’ throughout the entire trip. We had a great time! I don’t know what Nadine & my sister, Lydia, did. Apparently we didn’t drive our parents crazy w all the imaginary bears we shot. Such fun & a great memory of Leon.
