LaVerne F. ‘Fran’ Funfar Gifford, 83 and 8 months, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 17, 2010.
Fran was born July 28, 1926 in Stutzman County, near Cleveland, ND to Sam and Emelia (Wohl) Lang, and was oldest of 6 children.
She was married to Raymond Funfar in 1946. To this union was born one daughter, Linda Rae. Following Ray’s death at age 32, Fran moved to Lincoln.
After retirement from Christian Record Services, Fran worked fulltime as a CNA at Homestead Nursing Home, until she was 75.
Fran will be remembered for the delicious food she prepared for family and friends. Her hardworking and caring nature was an inspiration to everyone. She knew no strangers, just friends she hadn’t met.
Fran’s faith in Jesus and His soon return was a hope she carried close to her heart. She was an active member of the College View Seventh day Adventist church.
Family members include daughter, son-in-law: Linda and Rod Millican; grandchildren, spouse: Geoffrey Wooledge and Jonathan and Mandi Wooledge, great grandchildren: Christian Godfrey-Wooledge and Timber Wooledge, all of Lincoln; brothers, sisters-in-law: Ronald (Marilyn) Lang, Virginia, Darrell (Veloris) Lang, Roger (Jan) Lang, California; sisters, brothers-in-law: Marilyn (Frank) McArthur, Lincoln; Bonnie (Ray) Daniel, Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents and husband Raymond.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 30th at College View Seventh-day Adventist Church, 48th & Prescott. Pastors Ray Daniel and Terry Bock officiating.
Memorials in care of the family.
No visitation/cremation. Future interment at Wahpeton, North Dakota.
