Obituary

Larry D. Manire

May 15, 1944 - December 12, 2020

Larry D. Manire was born in National City, Ca., to L. Dean and Margie B. He attended school in many locations, but graduated high school in St. George, Kansas in 1963. He joined the Navy in December 1963 and was discharged to Naval reserve in July 1967. Larry worked as an aviation metal smith while in the military, in San Diego, California, so he was a land locked sailor. He worked various jobs after leaving the military. He married Janice Harling on October 21,1967, at which time he found a permanent job at York Manufacturing, in Bradshaw, Nebraska where he stayed for over 10 years. His long term job, besides his family, was at JBS Swift in Grand Island, Nebraska where he stayed for 30 years, retiring from there in May 2014.

Larry loved life and recreation, he fished, played baseball, golfed(being his favorite), bowling, hunting and enjoying anytime he was given to spend with his family in tow. It would take a lot of paper and time to tell you all the things he loved, but the simplest I “he loved his family to death”. Right before retirement he was given the greatest pleasures, he was given the the privilege to raise his great-granddaughter Adrianna. They were joined at the hip, he loved spending time with her, watching her dance was his favorite, but he never discounted softball or volleyball, just like his own children if they did it he was there to watch or help if he could.

Larry is survived by his wife Janice of York, great-granddaughter Adrianna Bolden of York. His daughters Laurie Smith of Plano, Tex., Christine Dawson of York, and Jennifer (Randy) Breiner of York. His sister Linda Zentz of Olympia, Wa. His six living grand children , Analicia Smith, Aaron Hollins, Melinda Williams, Jazzmyne Manire, Janelle (Shane) Motsinger and Mariah Williams. His step mother Janet Manire of Geneva. Also his good friend Michael Dawson (Dadrian Bolden). He has 21 more great-grandchildren, whom he loved as much as life itself. Many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by two infant sons Louis and Lee, grandsons Landyn Breiner, Andre’ Manire, sister Judy Dinger, his father and mother, and his precious cocker spaniel Buffy.

Celebration of life to be held at the Great Plains Community Church, in Goehner, Nebraska, with Pastor/friend Galen Skinner officiating.

Service at 2pm on Thursday , December 17, 2020. Internment to be at a later date, when his wife can join him in his heavenly home.

God be with you Larry, you were loved by many.
