Larren D. Schneckloth

October 6, 1946 - September 16, 2022

Larren D. Schneckloth was born on October 6th 1946 , to Ralph and Mable Schneckloth in Plainview, Nebraska . He died on September 16th 2022.

Larren was married twice, once to Margene Hiemer of which came four children to this union; Darrin, Doug, Derrick and Keri. He was remarried on May 21st, 2000 to Doris Richmond, where his family was extended to his step-children, Lydia, Kevin and Tammy. Larren graduated from Lincoln High School on June 11th, 1965.

After graduation Larren joined the Navy, where he served on the USS Randolph and the USS Yorktown. He retired from the Navy as a Machinist Mate, Third Class Petty Officer in 1971. Once discharged he went to Milford Community College where he majored in Diesel Technology. He retired from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in the automotive department. His interests were woodworking, leatherworking, riding his Cushman and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Doris, parents, Ralph and Mable and step-parent, Edward. He is survived by sons Darrin, Derrick (Omaha) and Doug (Lincoln), daughter and son-in-law Keri and Jimi Hammerly (Omaha) step daughter and son-in-law Lydia and Tim Daniels (Lincoln) step-son and daughter in law Kevin and Samantha Richmond; 2 grandchildren, Haunnah and Jared and 2 step-grandchildren Arlie and Eric.

A Life Celebration gathering will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Roper & Sons Mortuary Midtown Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Memorials, in Larren’s name, may be given to the family for a future designation.

Larren worked at University Fleet Management for 17 years and retired as an ASE Master Tech. Even though he was a heavy truck/bus mechanic, his true passion was working on his little Cushman scooters. Larren will be missed by all, but we are all better for having known him. Attached is a photo with Larren hiding in the background with many of his Fleet Management co-workers.

So sorry to hear about Larren. I will certainly miss seeing him at the Credit Union. I always gave him his favorite root beer suckers. If i wasn’t able to help or he came through the drive up. I always made sure he was given some before he left.
