Kellie Marie (Mickelsen) James

Kellie Marie (Mickelsen) James was born on November 19, 1978, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and passed away on Good Friday, April 19, 2019, at 2:22 pm, after a courageous 8-year battle with breast cancer. In numerology, the number 222 means peace and harmony, we think she chose this time to pass to let her family and friends know that she is at peace and everything will be okay.

Kellie graduated from Crete high school in 1997 and Nebraska Wesleyan in 2002. While at Crete, she met the love of her life, Kevin James, and the two were married on March 23, 2002, at the United Congregational Church in Crete. We’re sure glad she had the courage to ask him to homecoming their senior year. From their marriage were born three children, Blake, Lillian, and Brooklyn. Kellie owned and operated a flower store for several years after college and later was employed at Norris Public Schools and stayed at home to raise the children. She was a member of Southwood Lutheran Church.

Kellie had many roles in life; a beautiful wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, niece, friend, warrior, confidant, and cohort, but the role she loved the most was being a mother to her three beautiful children. They couldn’t have been blessed with a more dedicated, loving mother. There is no doubt she would have been the world’s best grandmother.

Kellie is survived by her husband Kevin; son Blake; daughters, Lillian and Brooklyn; parents, Terry Mickelsen, Janet Hansen; parents-in-laws, Dennis & Charlotte James; sister, Sara (Kenneth) Carlson; nieces and nephews, William Carlson and Hazel Carlson; grandmother, Donna Mickelsen; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; Furry Friend Stella. Preceded in death by grandparents, George & Kathryn Hansen, Glenn Mickelsen.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday (4-25) at Southwood Lutheran Church, 4301 Wilderness Hills Blvd., Lincoln.

Public visitation with family greeting friends will be 5-8 p.m., Wednesday (4-24) at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr. (S. 40th & Yankee Hill Rd.).

Memorials to Lynette’s Angels or the American Cancer Society.

Purple was Kellie’s favorite color and if you feel so inclined, please include a little in your wardrobe on Thursday.
