Obituary

Keith H. Brinkhoff

July 18, 1947 - March 11, 2025

Keith H. Brinkhoff, 77, of Lincoln, NE, passed away on March 11, 2025. He was born on July 18, 1947, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, to Leonard and Wilma (Kastens) Brinkhoff. He worked as an associate engineer designing roads at the State of Nebraska for 43 years. After his retirement, he spent his time buying and selling cars, flipping houses, and going to breakfast with friends. He loved gardening, planting trees and working outside with his three grandkids in Walton and Eagle.

Keith had a real passion for cars. He loved working on them, driving fast, and feeling the thrill of the open road. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Whether it was telling stories, laughing together, or just hanging out and taking charge of the grill, his family meant everything to him. He especially loved watching his grandsons grow and thrive. He attended nearly every sporting event and school function to support them.

He is survived by his wife. Marylyn; children Matthew (Amy Holman) Brinkhoff, Lincoln, and April (Shawn) Brinkhoff Krull, Lincoln; grandchildren Hayley, Alex, and Carter Krull; sisters Beverly (Bennie) DeFreece, Lincoln, and Donna Waller, Lincoln; sister-in-law Sharon Heater, Omaha, NE; father-in-law Eugene Kraenow, Syracuse, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth and Darrel, and mother-in-law Jeanette Kraenow.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Roper and Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive, Lincoln, Nebraska. Livestream available at www.roperandsons.com.

The ashes will be placed at a later date in the columbarium at First-Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 D St, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Memorials to the Arbor Day Foundation.

Worked with Keith for many years at NDOT. Always had a smile on his face. Last time I saw him was at the Eatery a few years ago. We were both there alone so decided to sit together and catch up. It was nice. My sympathies to his family and friends. He was a wonderful guy.
